The club meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month (except December) at 8 p.m. at 6 Hickey Street Ardross. This is in Wireless Hill Park, near the north entrance off Canning Highway (not in the museum on top of the hill).

SEPTEMBER 2008:  Bruce Devonish will present the history of The Devonish Recording Studios in Perth.  This is Perths' first 16 track recording facility.



OCTOBER 2008:  16mm film and DVD night.  Various social and technical histories.  Tony Smith will show two 16mm films, courtesy of The National Film and Sound Archive:  1. "Maxinol - The Gramophone";  2. "Lets Look at Radios".



NOVEMBER 2008:  Christmas Party night!  Hope to see some more wives this year.  To be held at usual Club Meeting venue at 8pm.  The event will be catered by a mobile wood-fired pizza vendor.  Bring your own drinks please.  Non-alcoholic drinks provided by Club.  Please phone Tony Smith (92715668) and advise if you plan to attend or not.  See you there!

MARCH 2009:  Rob Nunn will present slides and movie on exploration seismic technology



APRIL 2009:  David Hawks.  A personal history of broadcasting in Australia.



MAY 2009:  The Long History of the Long Playing record by Richard Rennie.  A TALK marking the 60th anniversary of the 45 rpm record. Hear why the 45 rpm record was introduced. And why 45 rpm? When were the first Long Playing records actually made? What was the first totally Australian Lp? Also hear examples of Edison’s long playing records of 1927, the amazing Tefifon grooves-on-tape player of the 1950s, original quadraphonic records of the 1980s, and more.



JUNE 2009:  AGM, followed by a big Auction.  The Auction will include collectable items and un-wanted items.



JULY 2009:  John Foster.  Two heads are better than one and some early antique machines.



AUGUST 2009:  Real to Reel.  A demonstration from Tony Smith and Richard Rennie.  Bring along any unusual and/or rare tape recorders.


SEPTEMBER 2009:  Rodney House and his rare and recently rebuilt Daily Automatic Phonograph. 


OCTOBER 2009:  Trevor Currie has some DVD's on the manufacture of British valves.


NOVEMBER 2009:  Christmas Party at VWGC Clubroom. 


DECEMBER 2009:  No monthly meeting in December as usual.


JANUARY 2010:  PLEASE NOTE!  Meeting moved from Tuesday January 26 to Tuesday January 19, 2010.  Big Auction planned.  Get your list of Auction items in to Tony Smith as soon as possible – phone Tony on 92715668 


FEBRUARY 2010:  Tuesday 23 February.  Richard Rennie presents : Blake Horrocks Story.  WA’s first TV transmitter and receiver in Harvey, WA in 1936.  With working models.


MARCH 2010:  David Littley will present the story of Brunell Mastertone radios.  David has asked that any members who have Mastertone radios to please bring them along for the 23 March, 2010 Meeting.


APRIL 2010:  Rod House will present the story of 100 years of the diamond disc at our 27 April, 2010 Meeting.


MAY 2010:  Richard Ashton will show some CD and DVD, from his experiences at the National Film and Sound Archives at our 25 May, 2010 Meeting.  He will explain details of the methods and technologies used to preserve film and sound.  Richard will also recall some memories of his days as cameraman, producer and outside broadcast director.


JUNE 2010:  Tony Smith will show DVDs.  Also an Auction and our AGM.  22 June, 2010.


JULY 2010:  John Skevington will give a talk on the technology of CD recording and an introduction to digital radio, on 27 July 2010.


AUGUST 2010:  Ian Vibart will talk about his career in broadcasting, on 24 August 2010.


SEPTEMBER 2010:  Tony Smith will put on a film night, 28 September 2010.
